I’m super mega-excited to be attending my first Planet Cake course this Saturday!
After working my way through the cupcake decorating section of the it’s time to graduate to bigger and better cakes. And what better tuition than the cake decorating masters, creating beautiful pieces for the likes of Cate Blanchett, Rhianna, Jennifer Hawkins, Nicole Kidman and Megan Gale. Not forgetting their recent cake challenge on Australia’s Masterchef too.
I cannot recommend this book enough for the beginner. It takes you through the necessary equipment and provides great cake recipes (vanilla cupcakes, chocolate or white chocolate mudcake, coconut cake and gluten free orange & almond cake) to form the delicious foundation. There’s detailed advice on how to prepare the cakes with sugar syrup and ganache. And importantly, how to handle, colour and shape fondant.
Phew! Then there is page after page of amazing designs with easy-to-follow guides on how to recreate each one.
There’s something for every ability level, where you can work your way from small scale cupcake decorating, to covering round cakes, square cakes and even mind-blowing 3D cakes.
So off I went, on my first ever fondant cupcake decorating spree. Got a little carried away …
