Free copy of ZUMBO cookbook

November 14, 2011

One copy of  the highly anticipated cookbook “Zumbo”, by pastry chef Adriano Zumbo is up for grabs, lovely people. Some of you might know him from appearances on Masterchef Australia. I wanted a copy for myself and I thought one of you might like a copy too, so I’m giving one away as a thank you for reading. Inside its glossy, sexily photographed pages are:

  • Recipes for 26 different macaron flavours, plus the base recipe.

  • How to make that croquembouche

  • And that V8 cake

  • 11 chocolate bar recipes, including salted vanilla caramels, and chocolate peanut bars
  • Pastries such as brioche, croissants, doughnuts and danishes
  • Tonnes of totally amazing other gateau de voyage, desserts and cakes.
So, how do I enter, I hear you cry?

2. Entries close next Monday the 21st November 2011 at midnight, Eastern Standards Time, Australia.

And that’s it! No soul-selling, email subscribing, Facebook liking, Fan Page commenting, Twitter following required. Because we all know, we just unsubscribe once the competition is over and we didn’t win. That’s what I do anyway, he he.

  • Wow!!! Great giveaway!!!:D
Hmmm.. I LOVE souffles! But specifically, I absolutely adore le petit gateau’s chocolate passionfruit brownie!!!!!
Thank u for the chance to win this awesome book!!!!

  • Well, let me be the first to enter seeing as I don’t need to do anything except answer this simple question to which I have numerous answers.

There are so many things I love, Pierre Herme macarons, a great chocolate cake, a soft souffle, a chewy choc chip cookie, a warm croissant just out of the oven, but if I had to pick only one dessert to eat forever, it would be…..

    *drumroll*

    a Creme Brulee.

Something about a creme brulee captures me like no other desserts. Whenever it’s on any menu, I will order it. I love custards in general, but something about a perfectly silky smooth creme brulee, with it’s hint of vanilla and that crispy sugar top just screams perfection to me. The flavour combination is so simple, but yet so stunning. For me, obviously the custard has to be smooth and have great flavour, but my key judgment criteria is the sugar top. I like my sugar quite burnt, and thin. I used to just crack straight into custard and demolish it, but after watching Amelie, I now like to tap lightly and tap it a few times before carefully breaking through the sugar into the creamy custard. Like Amelie, I find that simple act so much fun.

There you go, my perfect dessert. Now if only I knew how to cook that perfect dessert well. My failures at cooking a creme brulee are a whole other episode.

  • OMG, now I’m hungry and craving brulee !!! Probably not such a simple question after all :) I don’t think I could pick one thing either. Ugh, why is there no food in this house right now.

  • Just one?! OK, chocolate mousse cake. With a perfectly fluffy chocolate mousse layer :)

  • Wow! Thanks for organising such a great giveaway.

My all-time favourite dessert is the Mont Blanc, which is a chestnut flour macaron, covered in chantilly cream then carefully decorated with thin strands of boiled chestnut cream. It does not look like much but boy doea it taste amazing. Becasse Bakery at the new Westfield do a very good rendition!

  • Great giveaway!

aaargh.  I have so many desserts I love, too many really (New York cheesecake, chocolate brownies and vanilla bean ice cream, chocolate mousse, cherry clafoutis come to mind) but my favourite indulgence which I usually only have at nice dinners out and such is creme brulee.  I really must make one soon.

Thanks for the chance at winning this great book :)

Also, I’m sensing a ‘theme’ if you get my drift ;)

  • My all time favorite dessert is Lemon Meringue Pie. Combines my favorite three things – lemon curd, meringue and pastry!

  • I would love this!!! thanx so much for the chance to win one :)

I am a classic cake girl so my favorite would have to be Devils Food cake, with rich choc icing…mmmmyummmm!!!

  • Ohhh, this is awesome I was only thinking yesterday how I want to learn how to make Macarons!
My favourite dessert is Sticky Date Pudding :) YUM!

    My email is

  • What a fantastical baking book! I’ve never heard of Adriano Zumbo (I’m reading from Canada) but my curiosity has been pricked to find out what’s in his oven and confectionary.

Favourite dessert? That’s gotta be ice-cream. Not a gelato, not a frozen yogurt, not a popsicle — just a good, old-fashioned dairy ice cream that you can come to like a reliable friend. Just don’t ask me to which is my favourite flavour … that would be like splitting hairs!

  • creamy creamy creamy cheesecake

  • Please count me in for the lovely giveaway. I’ve always loved Zumbo’s inventions and would love to have a go at some of the recipes in his book. My favourite dessert would have to be my mum’s trifle. She makes everything from scratch and I always go back for seconds (and thirds or fourths).
